They came in answer to the above freecycle advert and were delighted to have been duped into coming to a whole house art installation at Shelmerdine Close, not to mention being plied with hot soup and coffee, these are the pictures they could take home in cigarillo tins picked up from a Hackney freecycler. Documentation of the show to follow…
This is the end, beautiful friend …

The Intimate, The Unspoken, The Remembered
Bruno Humberto

This place is not real. It is a half-dreamed network rail ride of tick-box experiences, a thin film covering real interaction. Fear and loathing.
In a quiet inbreath in the cacophony of London isolation a search for family, for closeness, for fertile soil takes place. The unkind history of a space occupied by many lives, waiting to be demolished is multiply told, reconfigured and contested.
A cascade of lives has been carved in the air of the space. If you step inside can you read the map(s) left behind? If you listen carefully can you hear the walls whisper their secrets?

Somewhere between machine and human, somewhere between being at home and also being several different places with several different people all at once. This week 58 Shelmerdine Close invites its Saturday afternoon guests into a hybrid between the actual space they enter and cyberspace. Like stepping through the wardrobe into Narnia, our guests will be taken on a multimedia adventure. Are you ready to step across the threshold into a brand new somewhere you have never been before? Same address, different place.

Act 4 moved its audience to weep…
November 8, 2010 § Leave a comment
Probably our most emotional intense Act to date, intimate, confrontational, evocative so much so that many audience members were deeply affected and moved to weep. Yes its intense down at the close, these acts are set to move and to take you on journeys, watch out for the amazing documentation that is going to be making its way to the blog.
A poet’s dying wish…
November 5, 2010 § Leave a comment
…Poet Richard Tyrone Jones is dying, but having visited 58 Shelmerdine Close, he created a poetry work for Act 4 to be part of Martin O’Brien’s poignant live art installation that addresses the struggles of the human condition by confronting the audience with the struggles he has to live each day, battling with the condition Cystic Fibrosis.
Richard Tyrone Jones will have his poem performed by another reader as he is currently too weak to perform himself, but those of us involved in the project have been incredibly touched by Richard’s commitment to the project and delighted that this wonderful poet has chosen to be part of 7 quiet ACTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
You can find out more about Richard’s work on his facebook
Richard Tyrone Jones’ Facebook page
and his book Germline is for sale on Amazon.
Listen and watch is uproariously funny poem – “The Day Everyone’s Arsehole Disappeared”
